Article abstract: Mucinous neoplasms of the appendix are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms and most of these tumors are asymptomatic. Mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix is a rare important disease which may be misdiagnosed as an ovarian cyst. Torsion of the appendix is a rare disorder which causes abdominal symptoms indistinguishable from acute appendicitis. Primary and secondary torsion are recongnized in the appendiceal torsion. Secondary torsion is caused by appendiceal abnormality, such as tumors and, is very rare. We report the case of a 61-years old female having secondary torsion of the appendix with mucinous cystadenoma. This case was presented with the acute abdominal pain which was compatible with symptoms of acute appendicitis, where histopathology revealed mucinous cyctadenoma.
