Abstract
The most famous physician of the Greco-Roman period was Galen of Pergamum (129–199 AD). He is the second most famous physician of all antiquity, after Hippocrates. His views dominated European medicine for fifteen centuries, until the time of Andreas Vesalius (1514–1564 AD) and William Harvey (1578–1657 AD).
