About Journal

The Iranian Journal of Surgery is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published quarterly by the Iranian Surgical Society. As the official journal of the Society and its affiliated specialty associations (including orthopedics, pediatric surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, organ transplantation, thoracic surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT, gynecology and obstetrics, urology, hand surgery, and more), it serves as a platform for disseminating surgical knowledge and advances.

The journal is administered under the supervision of the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, and a Scientific Advisory Board to uphold academic integrity and publication quality.

It publishes a wide array of content: original research articles, review papers, case reports, clinical notes, expert commentaries, historical perspectives on surgery, letters to the editor, and structured self-learning modules. Moreover, on matters of national importance and challenges facing the country, the Editorial Board may commission educational or review articles from scholars and faculty experts.

From Autumn 2024, the Iranian Journal of Surgery adopted a bilingual publishing model: every article is published in full text in both Persian and English (i.e. authors submit or produce complete versions in both languages, and abstracts and metadata are bilingual).

The journal holds the “Scientific-Research” status granted by the Commission on Medical Journals of the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. It appears in four issues per year.
