Abstract
John Hunter (1728-1793) was one of the most influential surgeons of all time. He expanded the horizons of surgery, medicine, and science. Hunter's surgery became a branch of scientific medicine because of its support of physiology and pathology. Hunter was born on a farm in Scotland near Glasgow. The youngest of ten siblings, he was considered a poor student who showed little interest in the educational process. He was expelled from school at the age of 13, and few people expected him to achieve success in the future.
