Abstract
Introduction & Objective: Cosmetic surgery has been on the rise, especially in recent decades, and the growing importance of beauty in women and their desire to manage the body, and especially cosmetic surgery beyond the medical dimension, has become a social issue that researchers in social and psychological sciences To conduct research on this issue, among which qualitative studies have each provided an in-depth explanation of part of this phenomenon. Given the importance of an in-depth and comprehensive look at the issue, this study aims to identify the main concepts and general categories of cosmetic surgery among women using the meta- synthesis method. For this purpose, qualitative studies in the field of cosmetic surgery were reviewed and analyzed, in which 14 main concepts and 4 general categories were extracted. It shows that cosmetic surgery in women is influenced by individual perceptions of beauty, family background and friends and socio-cultural and economic structures and leads to negative and positive consequences after surgery.
