Abstract
Dominique Jean Larry (1766–1842) was a prominent French surgeon during the Napoleonic era, serving as surgeon-in-chief in the army of Napoleon I. Larry was born in the village of Baudean in the Hautes Pyrenées and orphaned at the age of thirteen. Under the tutelage of his uncle, who was the chief surgeon at a hospital in Toulouse, Larry studied for six years and became a surgeon.
